1- Take care with Sites, phone calls or false text messages ("Phishing", "Vishing", "Smishing"):PHISHING is the creation of false Sites in Internet (similar copies of a real Web Site). An e-mail is sent to the user affirmed to be a related company, for example your bank with a message threatening or motivating , for example: "Your user name has expired, please enter and modify your key of access, if you don´t do it, the BCR will not become responsable." "You have been including in the sweeps "A million of Colones", please enter and activates your participation." The e-mail includes a link to do click, which sends to the user to the false Site. Another form is to create Web Sites with similar address (domain names), instead of www.bancobcr.com, as: www.bancbcr (note that the lack of the letter "o" in Bancbcr) or www.bancodecostarica.com; this awaiting that the user digite those directions by error, consequently will enter itself of a false Site where its key is captured. Besides the false Sites the swindlers use other two known techniques of deceit like: "VISHING" and "SMISHING" which consist of realizing telephone calls or the send of SMS messages, where they request and convence to the users to give them confidential information as account number, PIN, access key, code of security and others with which later they can carry out the fraud. Warning:
How to act? If by error you entered to a false Site or you gave your key of access, enter to the official Site of the BCR www.bancobcr.com and blocks your user access, entering erroneously the key more than 3 times. If besides the access key you gave to your PIN number or another information calls immediately to the BCR and solicit the block and cancel your card, because with this information will be able to return to register itself in Internet although you have blocked your account. Before any suspicion you can call to the Customer Service at 2284-6600 (24 hours)
2- Take care with the Spyware software:Spyware software is a system that is distributed by Internet, is commonly loaded in the equipment without the consent of the user and can read the information stored in its computer and send it by the Internet to Web sites controlled by unscrupulous people. The information is captured (like access keys) and it´s send to somebody in the Internet.
Warnings: · Do not make banking transactions from computers or wireless networks of public access as Internet cafes, restaurants, libraries, airports or others, if you not be sure that they count on the suitable security systems. · Installs in your computer an Antivirus softwate and Antispyware software and keep it updated. ·

Firewall Sofware or detection and prevention of intruders. If your computer have a Windows XP operating
