Helpdesk (Assistant Service)

General Terms

Because you are an important part of us, BANCO DE COSTA RICA, in agreement with GEA OF COSTA RICA, offers the Helpdesk/Assistance Service, as a further effort to deliver the best and most innovative services to our customers.

Our ultimate goal is that we can give you timely solutions to your emergency situations at one call (Road, Legal, Medical and Travel Assistance) 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, either locally or internationally.

The Help Desk/Assistant Service will be very useful if you will need: tow truck, fuel supply, home care, travel abroad or domestic, as well as medical services, emergency transportation, plumbing, locksmithing, electricity and glassworks.

At the Banco de Costa Rica, we are always looking best for our customers, so we welcome you and hope that the Helpdesk/Assistant Service will be of much help to you and your beneficiaries.

Let's start with the basic terms necessary to analyze more clearly the outstanding choice that this service represents.

GEA: Specialized Assistance Group, GEA DE COSTA RICA SA

CARDCARDHOLDER: The individual who is a member of the Helpdesk/Assistant Service and if the contract is carried out by a corporation, shall be deemed to be the person named in the Credit Card issued by the BANCO DE COSTA RICA.

It shall be understood as beneficiaries the cardholder spouse, children and / or dependents under 18 who live permanently under the economic dependence of the cardholder, who will enjoy all the services cardholders are entitled to, in accordance with the general terms, conditions and limitations set forth herein.

EVENT LIMIT: The amount of times you can use the Helpdesk/Assistant Service to help in any case or problem at home, your vehicle or while traveling locally or internationally.

KILOMETER ZERO: Refers to permanent residence or wherever you are in the country.

ROAD ASSISTANCE SERVICES (from kilometer zero). With one simple call, you can receive the relief on road at the time of need it.:

TOW TRUCK

In case of accident or car breakdown where the car does not operate independently, of one of the affiliated vehicles and you need a tow truck, GEA will manage and cover the cost of tow truck service to garage.

Unlimited events per year for a maximum of $ 150 per event.

If there is a surplus, GEA agrees that before engaging and sending tow truck, you will be notified in order to authorized the extra amount for which you must pay with your own resources to service vendor.

In all cases, you must accompany the service vendor to garage destination unless in those cases in which the occupant (s) has (ve) to be moved to a hospital or clinic or is (are) unable (s) to accompany the vehicle.

The towing service will not be offered to freight vehicles and / or injured people. GEA will not provide services to vehicle stuck or jammed in holes, gullies, etc.

ROAD ASSISTANCE

Include: change the spare tires -in case of a puncture-, lack of fuel or the need for power passage from your vehicle. GEA manage and cover the cost of sending a qualify person who will assist you and solve the problem, so that the vehicle in respect can operate normally.

Unlimited events per year for a maximum of $ 150 per event.

The exceeding event should be covered by the cardholder at his own expense.

SHIPPING AND PAYMENT OF LOCKSMITH

To open your vehicle, due to oblivion, loss or theft of keys inside it. In that case, GEA will manage and cover the cost of sending a qualify person to solve the problem, so that vehicle object of current service can run by its own means.

Unlimited events per year for a maximum of $ 100 per event.

 The exceeding event should be covered by customer at his own expense.

 You must supervise at all times the provision of roadside assistance services.

AMBULANCE SERVICE

If you shall experience a serious illness or car accident that causes you injuries or trauma requiring hospitalization, GEA will manage and cover the cost of ground ambulance, as long as there is a private medical service that allows it. If that does not exist, GEA will coordinate the transfer to a public medical service in the area, with unlimited events per year, or cost limit.

This service is provided only at major capital of provinces (San Jose, Alajuela, Heredia, Cartago, Limon, Puntarenas and Liberia).

MECHANICAL GARAGE REFERENCES

If requested, GEA will provide updated information on vehicle service workshops close to the scene of the car accident or breakdown, just at the capital of the provinces

In other parts of the country, we will do our best to help you contacting a workshop/garage. GEA shall have no liability whatsoever in connection with the attention or lack thereof by workshops/garages contacted.

In any case, the expenses incurred for the vehicle repair shall be paid by the cardholder.

Unlimited events per year, or cost limit.

MEDICAL REFERENCES

If you need medical assistance, we will provide information on different specialists. Diagnosis will not be issued, but if you want (at your own risk), we will make available necessary means for obtaining a diagnosis, either arranging a personal visit with a doctor, or making an appointment in a hospital  The doctor  fees  and any other expenses will be paid by customer at his own expense and risk. GEA does not assume any liability in connection with the attention or lack of it by doctors or medical centers contacted.

In remote locations will do our best to help you contacting a doctor or getting to a medical facility as quickly as possible.  In this case, customer must directly pay medical fees and any other expenses incurred at medical facility at his own expense.

LEGAL ASSISTANCE SERVICES

We are aware that you may need professional advice on legal matters at any time, and that is the reason why we offer Legal Aid Services, which includes:

REFERENCE AND LEGAL CONSULTING

GEA will provide, at your request by a telephone call, referral services and legal advice on criminal, civil and family issues 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In any case, the expenses incurred for the provision of professional services will have to be paid by customer at his own expense.

Unlimited events per year, or cost limit.

GEA shall not be responsible for the outcome of negotiations and defenses made by the lawyer you directly hire.

GEA will provide, at your request, assistance and legal defense derived from criminal liability as a result of WRONGFUL but never intentional commission of road accidents 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by a lawyers appointed by the company, as of the moment you become under arrest or held in custody by any authority until the conclusion of the matter. The allocated attorney fees for assistance and defense will be at GEA expenses.

GEA shall not be responsible for the outcome of negotiations and defenses made by the lawyers you hire directly.

Unlimited events per year, or cost limit.

GUARANTEES

Derived from this service, GEA agrees to:

1)  Arrange, if applicable, your liberty from competent authority, all in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica.

2) Make the necessary arrangements for the return of your vehicle and the cancellation of the lien with the Vehicle Registry at the conclusion of the matter.

3) Deposit of Guarantee (bail bond) for the benefits outlined in the above items, according to the following:

Criminal Warranties: As a result of car accident/traffic offenses, competent authority requires a bond in order to grant liberty, GEA will deposit either in cash or use any other means legally acceptable, as long as there are not additional warranties required.

LEGAL ASSISTANCE IN CASE  OF STOLEN VEHICLE

If your vehicle is stolen, we will present jointly with you or your legal representative all the necessary allegations before competent authorities, - Judicial Investigation Bureau (Organismo de Investigación Judicial), and any others institution that may be necessary, depending on where the robbery was committed.  We will also make all possible efforts before competent authorities to locate your vehicle as soon as possible.

If you have robbery insurance, we will manage respective certified copies, if required by the insurance company.

LEGAL ADVICE IN CASE OF DEATH

In case of death of the cardholder or a beneficiary, GEA will assist you or your beneficiary, through an attorney appointed by us, in all the steps required before the competent authorities including: survey and identification of the body, autopsy, necropsy, witness testimony, death certificate and any other related investigation. This service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In order to grant all legal assistance services described in this point, you will need to name as yours, the GEA appointed lawyer.

LEGAL ADVICE IN CASE BURGLARY

If there is a robbery at your house, GEA will provide telephone legal advice to you or your beneficiaries in relation to the  necessary  steps in order to bring charges to the competent authorities - Judicial Investigation Bureau (Organismo de Investigación Judicial)-, and any other necessary measures, depending on the location the robbery was committed.

If you have a robbery insurance, we will manage the certified copies, if  required by the insurance company

Unlimited events per year, or cost limit.

TELEPHONE LEGAL COUNSELING  ON DISMISSAL OF HOUSEKEEPER

If requested, GEA will provide telephone legal advice in all necessary steps for the dismissal of housekeeper, according to the Labor Code and any related legal information.

GEA is not responsible for the consequences of these inquire and the costs incurred are at customer responsibility.

SUPPORT SERVICES AT HOME (including materials, labor and  workers transportation)

GEA also assists in emergencies that may arise in your home (permanent residence, the same as stated in the credit card contract with the Banco de Costa Rica), such as plumbing, glassworks, assistance in case of lost keys, locks or electrical problems.

 This service is just provided on the provinces main cities.  In normal situations, GEA will get you assistance in a maximum period of 60 minutes, as long as the service requested is rendered within the limits of the city concerned.

DELIVERY AND PAYMENT PLUMBING SERVICE

In case of plumbing problems at the permanent residence of the cardholder, GEA will manage and cover the cost of plumbing services, paying for the required material, labor and worker transportation.

The failures due to breakage or leakage in the pipeline and sanitation facilities requiring immediate repair because of imminent damage to the property are included within this service.

Unlimited events per year for a maximum of $ 75 per event.

The exceeding event should be covered by the cardholder.

DELIVERY AND PAYMENT LOCKSMITH SERVICES

If you lose or misplace your keys, damaged locks by breakdown or accident on the main  access doors of the permanent residence of the cardholder, GEA will manage and cover the cost of the locksmith expenses, paying for the material required, labor and the worker transportation.

Unlimited events per year for a maximum of $ 75 per event.

The exceeding event should be covered by the cardholder at his own expense.

DELIVERY AND PAYMENT FOR ELECTRICAL SERVICES

In case of an electrical failure at the permanent residence of the cardholder, GEA will manage and cover the cost of electrical charges, paying for the required material, labor and worker transportation. We provide the following services:

a- Restoration of electric service caused by partial or complete  short circuits when the failure originates  inside the permanent address of the cardholder building.

b- Repair or replacement of electrical panels, blade switches, switches (breakers) or fuse damaged by short circuits or overload, this replacement will be carried out the electrical installation on the property corresponding to the permanent address of the cardholder.

Unlimited events per year for a maximum of $ 75 per event.

The exceeding event should be covered by the cardholder at his own expense.

This service does not include repair of any device or equipment that works with electricity or accessory replacement (lamps, lights, ballasts, bulbs, etc).

DELIVERY AND PAYMENT GLASSWORK SERVICES

In the event of external glass breakage at the permanent residence of the cardholder, which threatens his safety and that of his family, GEA will manage and cover the cost of glass exchange fees, covering for required material, labor and worker transportation.

Unlimited events per year for a maximum of $ 75 per event.

The exceeding event should be paid by the cardholder at his own expense.

HOTEL DUE TO UNINHABITABLE  HOUSE

When the place of permanent residence of the cardholder, as a result of a covered event, is declared uninhabitable, GEA will bear the costs of a hotel room of the member (s) in a hotel near his permanent residence or any facility of preference by cardholders.

Two events a year, for a maximum of $ 100 per event.

The exceeding event should be covered by the cardholder at his own resources.

REFERENCE AND  TECHNICIAL SERVICES COORDINATION

If requested, GEA will provide updated information on workshops and technical services, near your place of permanent residence and coordinate visit to address the emergency or scheduled jobs.

GEA will provide this service only at the province capital cites.

Elsewhere in the country, GEA will make every effort to assist you in contacting a technician as quickly as possible. However, GEA will not assume any liability in connection with the attention or lack thereof by technicians contacted.

In any case, the expenses incurred for the repair or other household matters shall be paid by the cardholder.

TRAVEL ASSISTANCE SERVICES (starting from kilometer 30 of place of residence)

The main objective of the Travel Assistance Service is that you make the most of your trips, without having to worry about any eventuality.

RETURN OR ONWARD TRIP

In case of a break down or stolen vehicle member of the program, if this occurs thirty miles or more from the  place of permanent residence of the cardholder, GEA will manage and cover the cost of bus, train or any other approved transportation means  you require to return or continue your trip.

Unlimited events per year for a maximum of $ 250 per event.

The exceeding event should be covered by the cardholder at his own expense.

NOTE: GEA will assist you in your travels from kilometer 30 on, meaning "THIRTY KILOMETER" when you are at a distance of thirty miles or more from your permanent residence.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCE

In case of theft or loss of essential documents for the onward trip, such as: passport, visa, plane tickets, etc.., GEA will provide you the necessary information, and the procedure you should follow with local authorities for the replacement of such lost or stolen documents.

TRANSPORTATION IN CASE OF DEATH OF THE CARDHOLDER

If you die during the trip, GEA will manage and cover the cost transportation by road or air or any other transportation mean chosen by your families to the place of residence or habitual.

PRE-TRIP INFORMATION

GEA will provide information about tours and other tourism related information, to help you coordinate the best way to travel within the Costa Rican territory. GEA shall not be liable if the information provided is not accurate, complete or valid.

COMMUNICATION OF MESSAGE:

GEA will transmit an unlimited number of urgent messages that are consequences or resulting from an emergency at home or abroad.

TRANSPORTATION TO YOU RESIDENCE IN CASE OF SICKNESS

Should you experience an illness during the trip physically preventing you from returning to your place of residence, GEA will manage and cover the cost of transportation by land, air or any means you choose to your habitual place of residence.

PROFESSIONAL DRIVER

If you suffer an accident during a trip that physically prevent you from returning to your place of residence home, GEA will manage and cover the cost of a driver to transfer you to your permanent or habitual residence.

HOTEL COSTS DUE TO STOLEN VEHICULE

After bring charges for the stolen vehicle before the competent the authorities, GEA will organize and cover the cost of the stay at a hotel chosen by you and / or your beneficiaries.

Unlimited events per year for a maximum of $ 250 per event.

The exceeding event should be covered by the cardholder with your own resources.

HOTEL COSTS DUE TO CAR REPAIR

In the event your vehicle is unable to continue a trip due to a mechanical failure or malfunction, GEA will organize and cover the cost of the hotel accommodation of your choice. The car repair will have to take longer than two days.

Unlimited events per year for a maximum of $ 250 per event.

The exceeding event should be covered for you with your own resources.

RENT A CAR OR TAXI  PAY RENT DUE TO STOLEN VEHICULE

In case your vehicle is stolen, GEA will cover and manage the cost of the car rental of your choice, and will provide a copy of the theft report to corresponding authorities.

Unlimited events per year for a maximum of $ 250 per event.

The exceeding event should be covered by the cardholder at his own expense.

TRANSPORTATION EXPENSES FOR VEHICLE RECOVERY

In case your vehicle is stolen during a trip and it is located later, GEA will cover the cost of transportation to the site location of the vehicle recovery, whether by land or air.

Unlimited events per year, or cost limit.

We also offer support services exclusively abroad, such as:

MEDICAL AND HOSPITAL ASSISTENCE

In the event a beneficiary has an accident or sudden illness on a trip  during the term of this Agreement, GEA will manage and cover the costs of necessary medical services.

Three events a year, for a maximum of $ 5,000 per event.

The exceeding event should be covered by the cardholder at his own expense.

Cost excluded from service: prostheses, contact lenses, hearing aids, dentures, cosmetic surgery, regular or routine health checks ("check up"), as well as hospital expenses incurred outside the country of residence, when you have been prescribed before starting the trip or occurring after your return.

REPATRIATION IN THE EVENT OF CARDHOLDER DEATH

If you die during the trip, GEA will manage and cover the cost of land or air transportation, or any other transportation means chosen by your family to place of  permanent residence. This service excludes custom agency fees or equivalent permits, authentication or exit letters form country where the body is located, and the cost of transportation there.

For a maximum of $ 2,000.

The exceeding event should be paid by the cardholder at his own expense.

DENTAL CARE

If you or a beneficiary suffers acute problems requiring urgent dental treatment, GEA will manage and cover the costs of such services.

Three events a year, for a maximum of $ 300 per event.

The exceeding event should be covered by the cardholder at his own expense.

 PRE-TRIP INFORMATION

At the request of the beneficiary, GEA will provide the following information:

a) Requirements for vaccines and visas from foreign countries. GEA will simply inform the required data as stated in the manual above and seek to be aware of current changes in visa and vaccination requirements to provide the latest information.

b) Addresses and telephone numbers of the BANCO DE COSTA RICA branches  as has been indicated by the bank.

c) Addresses and telephone numbers of Costa Rican embassies and consulates worldwide, when and where available.

However, GEA shall not be liable if the information provided is not accurate, complete or valid.

TRIP RETURN FOR MEDICAL EMERGENCY

In the event you experience any medical emergency during a trip, GEA will manage and cover the cost of land, air or any other transportation means chosen by you to your place of residence in Costa Rica.

Three events a year, for a maximum of $ 1,000 per event.

The exceeding event should be covered by the cardholder at his own expense.

HOTEL FOR CONVALESCENCE

GEA will manage and cover the cost corresponding to a prolonged stay in a hotel chosen by you, immediately after being discharged from the hospital, if this extension has been prescribed by the local doctor and the medical team of GEA.

Three events a year, $ 150 per day, maximum 10 days.

If there is a surplus, customer must pay at his own expense.

COMMUNICATION OF URGENT MESSAGES

GEA will communicate upon request of the beneficiary, urgent messages as a consequence of situation of emergency abroad.

REFERENCE AND COORDINATION SERVICES (Exclusive to the San Jose and provincial capitals, in other places, GEA will strive to help you contact the services).
Other services we offer are:

REFERENCE AND COORDINATION Florist

When you need to deliver or buy flowers for a special occasion, GEA will provide information and coordinate the delivery through partner florists and suppliers. We will provide this service only in San Jose and other province capitals.

Elsewhere in the country, GEA will strive to assist you in contacting a florist as quickly as possible. In this case, customer must pay for costs incurred.

Unlimited events per year, or cost limit.

REFERENCE AND COORDINATION OF LOCKSMITHS

If requested, GEA will provide updated information on the locksmith shops near the site of damage or loss of keys.

GEA should not have liability whatsoever in connection with the attention or lack thereof by the locksmiths contacted.

However, expenses as a consequence of latchkey repair or key makings must be paid by customer.

Unlimited events per year, or cost limit.

REFERENCE AND COORDINATION OF RESTAURANTS

GEA will provide updated information on the required specialty restaurants, close to the location you requested, and book them for you.

GEA will provide the service indicated in the preceding paragraph only on the major province capitals.

Elsewhere in the country, GEA will strive to help you find a restaurant with the desired characteristics.

GEA shall not be liable whatsoever in connection with the attention or lack of it by the recommended restaurants. All expenses incurred in these restaurants must be paid by customer.

Unlimited events per year, or cost limit.

REFERENCE AND COORDINATION OF CULTURAL CENTERS

Upon customer request GEA will provide updated information on cultural facilities such as cinemas, theaters, museums and will book them for you. Also GEA can manage the purchase of tickets to concerts and all related cultural activities.

GEA will provide service indicated in the preceding paragraph only in the major province capitals.

 In the other cities of the Republic of Costa Rica, GEA will make an effort to give you the necessary support to achieve a cultural center with the desired characteristics.
GEA should not be liability whatsoever in connection with the attention or lack thereof by the cultural centers recommended.

In any case, the costs incurred in these centers should be covered by cardholder.

The service provided herein will be provided for both plans.

Unlimited events per year, or cost limit.

AIRLINES REFERENCE AND COORDINATION

Upon request, GEA will provide updated information on airlines such as arrivals and departures schedules, as well as reservations. Through GEA, you can also manage the purchase of tickets for both domestic and international flights.

GEA shall not be liable whatsoever in connection with the attention or lack thereof by the airline recommended.

In any case, the cardholder should cover the cost the air tickets purchased,

 Unlimited events per year, or cost limit.

CASE OF EMERGENCY

The following assistance situations are not subject to the SERVICES:

A) Cardholder or the cardholder driver's willful misconduct, proven by the staff of GEA.

B) Extraordinary phenomena such as floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, storms, and so on.

C) Acts and actions of man, as a consequence of terrorism, war, guerrilla warfare, vandalism, riot or uproar, and so on.

D) Acts and actions of armed forces, or police force.

E) Radioactive nuclear energy.

F) Diseases or injuries resulting from chronic conditions and those diagnosed before the start of the trip.

G) Ingestion of drugs, toxic substances, narcotics or drugs without a prescription.

H) Mental Illness.

I) The acquisition and use of dental prostheses or eyeglasses.

J) Practice of competition sports.

K) Failure to comply with the procedural requirements set by the courts as a preventive measure to ensure the attendance of the cardholder to the procedure.

L) Lack of cooperation by the cardholder to the recovery of the bond exhibited by the corporation.

GEA notify the BANK OF COSTA RICA on inappropriate services for the reasons given above, to verify if this allows the provision of quality service for the customer in question, provided that, by circumstances of time and day-is able to immediately communicate otherwise, it will report the next business day writing.

EXCLUSIONS

A)    The events occurred during vacation or trips carried out by beneficiaries against the prescription of the doctor or for trips longer than sixty (60) calendar days are not entitled to the Helpdesk/Support Services.

B)     B) The following vehicles are excluded from the provision of these services: vehicles of 3.5 tons of capacity and on, cargo and people public transportation vehicles, public transportation, taxis, shuttles, tour buses leased to a car rental company established as such.

C)    When the car has been smuggled into the country.

D)    D) If the beneficiary does not provide accurate and timely information which does not permit to adequately respond to the issue.

E)     E) When the beneficiary does not identify himself as a BANCO DE COSTA RICA cardholder.

F)     F) If the beneficiary fails to comply with any of the obligations contained in this document.

WHAT ARE YOUR OBLIGATIONS AS CARDHOLDER?

In order for you to enjoy the services included, you must meet the following requirements:

A) Avoid making expenditures or arrangements without prior consultation to GEA.

B) Provide timely notice of a chance on the permanent residence to the Banco de Costa. It is understood that if you settle down your permanent residence in a place other than the territory of the Republic of Costa Rica, the relationship between GEA and you shall be terminated,  GEA will be free from its obligation to provide services included in this contract and you will be relieved of your obligation to pay necessary fees for services hereunder.

C) Identify yourself as a cardholder to GEA clerks or to people hired by the company to provide services referred to in this document.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS YOU SHOULD FOLLOW  TO REQUEST OUR SERVICE?

If you require  the services, please proceed as follows:

A) Whenever you require the services, you will contact GEA at 2211-6333.

B) You shall provide the GEA staff member who answers the call  all the necessary information to identify you as a cardholder, as well as other necessary data to provide the service requested, such as your exact location, your telephone number, description the problem  and the type of help required and the vehicle registration number.

It is understood that GEA staff will only provide the services included in this agreement to the people listed as a cardholder on the latest list of members of the Helpdesk/Assistance Service Program.

Please note that the service related to the cardholder vehicles will be provided only when requested by any cardholder entitled to do so or their families in the cases referred to in points: "Transportation in case of death of the cardholder ", " Transportation to your residence in case of sickness “, “Moving to his home by illness" and " Repatriation in case of death of the cardholder".

 C) Once accomplished all the requirements, GEA will provide the requested services to cardholder entitled, in accordance with the terms, conditions and limitations of this document.

If you fail to comply adequately with the requirements, GEA shall not be liable or expense related to non-provision of services related to this contract.

As an only exception relation to the MEDICAL LAND TRANSPORTATION SERVICE in cases of absolute and proven urgency or your inability to comply with the above-mentioned requirements, you can go directly to third parties to request the specified service. In this case, GEA will reimburse the expenses incurred, always within the limits of events a year. It is understood that  you are entitled to reimbursement set forth herein, shall comply with the procedure set  down in the preceding paragraphs within a maximum period of twenty-four hours as of time it has finalized the MEDICAL LAND TRANSPORTATION SERVICE.

SUBROGATION

GEA shall be subrogated to the extent of the cost of services provided and the amounts paid to you by such a company in connection with the rights you have to collect compensation from the responsible of the accident or disease that has resulted in the provision of services referred to in this document.
