Maximum Credit Amount for a Company or Economic Interest Group
The Financial System Law establishes that the maximum amount that a financial institution can grant to a company or economic interest group will be a 20% of the business property.
Banco de Costa Rica owns the highest total assets in the country, $150 million.
However, our internal Norms of Prudent Banking establish that the maximum credit is a 7% of this patrimony. So, at this moment the maximum credit is $11.0 million approximately.
In several cases we have
already adopted the figure of agent bank for bigger credits than
this amount, where BCR uses the total credit with other financial institutions
and the client fulfill his/her financing needs.
Percentage Rate Allocation
BCR allocates the percentage rates depending on the operation risk. This risk is determined based on the customer's financial information, and according to other parameters, like the guaranty's nature, the company's commercial risk, etc.
The rate for credits in Dollars are based on the current Prime Rate (PR), and for Colones , on the Passive Basic Rate (TBP, Spanish abbreviation of Tasa Basica Pasiva).
According to these concepts, we provide the rate range tables, depending on the risk levels.
